As a single man in his early 50s , I just find it impossible now to meet women when I go out to the bars at the weekend. Every pub I go to , it's full of 20 something boys & girls . Galway has become a young people's city now . Yes , I know it's always had a young population because it's a student city but where are the over 40s to early 50s age group socialising at the weekend ? I see hardly any out .Just where do single people in their 40s or 50s go now to socialise in Galway? It's just overrun every weekend with kids in their early 20s . Galway is a bit agist now. If you're 40 or over you're considered an ' old fart' , and you might as well give up . Some of my single friends have resorted to trying speed dating nights in the hope of trying to meet someone as a last resort. I was at the Clayton on the Friday of Race Week this year and it was chaotic! It was overly packed and just a Kiddyfest. Several years ago full of people of all ages but now it's just full of drunken kids in their 20s. I used to love Galway , but now it's not the way it used to be. What are your thoughts on this?

You grew up - it happens!

Try other social ideas than pubs. Art, sport, evening classes - whatever you're into.

Get a dog, take it for walks, meet other single dog walkers.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

The bingo at Seapoint has lots of old wans.

And it'll be September soon, take a trip down to Lisdoonvarna.

You’re 56 but pretending to be mid 40s.

    There’s you’re issue.

    Username with 1968?

    Yeah.... 40s...

I found your answer in the CAO data. https://www.cso.ie/en/releasesandpublications/ep/p-cpp3/censusofpopulation2022profile3-householdsfamiliesandchildcare/privatehouseholdsandlivingalone/

The honest answer is the demographics are against you. There's not too many single women over 40 as a % of all the people in Galway. You're best bet is to look for events targeted at older women looking to date, or just use apps like everyone else.

You're not seeing single 40-50yos in bars because most of the people in that age group are settled down.

You're seeing single 20yos in bars because most in that age group are not settled down.
