anyone looking to move to Drogheda or the areas surrounding, eg. Bettystown, Laytown, Duleek.
Drogheda is a town that has fallen from former glory, most houses in the town aside the Dublin road area are council or former council houses. High levels of unemployment and drug abuse in the town has caused it to be very unsafe both during the day and after dark. The main areas to avoid in the town are Ballsgrove, Rathmullan and Moneymore. These are areas plagued with drugs and violence unfortunately. The town also has a fast growing problem with car theft. In 2021 it was ranked as the second most dangerous city in Europe, and a lot of funding and work needs to be done it the town.
The town of drogheda has a lot of surrounding towns and villages. Bettystown is a seaside town east of drogheda, along the coast. It has very scenic views and a great golf links. That said the town has a huge problem with drugs and violence just like Drogheda. The anchorage and Tesco are no go areas in the town and are host to a lot of crime and antisocial behaviour.
South of bettystown is another seaside town in laytown. Laytown is also very scenic but has the same if not more drug problems then bettystown. Inse bay is a nice estate for a family in laytown with a diverse community, however anything south of inse bay is a no go area. Seaview estate is host to most of the drug dealing and ‘grow houses’ in the area. Kids are very vunerable to being groomed in the Laytown-Bettystown area as it is a working to lower class area with a growing drug problem and population.
West of Laytown-Bettystown is a town called Duleek. It is a smaller town then laytown or bettystown, it has less problems with drugs and antisocial behaviour than these areas. That being said it is a total kip. Nicer houses than Laytown but has no coastline, the Main Street is depressing and the architecture is very out of date in the town.

For anyone considering to move to any of these areas I would rank them as so..
    1. Bettystown- Seaside town with many shops

    2. Laytown- Same as bettystown but more unsafe

    3. Drogheda- Nice town but needs a lot of work, and struggles with drug violence and overall safety.

    4. Duleek- Probably the safest of the four areas but nothing to do there and a very depressing town center
