Tractor for around 20000

Looking for a tractor for around 20,000. Probably not buying me a whole lot with the market the way it is. Anyone recommend anything reliable that is easy to fix. Had a 390 but reckon trying to find one in good condition would be a fairly expensive exercise.

Was thinking new Holland or a newer Massey. Something around year 2000. Would be for light work around farm and moving 6 ton digger a few times a year.

Any advice. Ideally looking for farmers tractor and private.

Go a little bit more and get a 42 series Massey. Same as the 300 series just more comfortable

At that money you have to keep an open mind on all makes as you are looking at Tractors with plenty hours.

80 -110hp tractors would include the Landini Mythos 90,100, McCormick Mc100 -115, RENAULT 106-54TL, Ford 8340 all should be got sub 20k in good nick.

120 hp+ would be the Case MTX series, Older Fords such as the 8630s.

Also worth a look at the vintage section as you can buy refurbished older tractors that have more money and work put into them than what the asking price is. I picked up a nice mf135 fully restored, only 4800 hours on the clock. 5000 euro delivered with luck penny

Did any of them Valtra's come with Hook ends on the arms? The old set up on that one would be some ball ache putting on and taking off implements.

Yep the bigger 8000 series would have had the hook arms. You'd get a pair of hook arms to suit in a breakers. yard. Good value especially with the front loader and bucket included

That's great value I think the main issue with the Valera's is the amount of hours on them - which they are well able for but does be a bit of a put off

Ah coming up to the 10k hour mark you'd be looking at getting injectors refurbished. The crankshaft pulley on our valtra was replaced lately at 9.5k hours as the rubber damper in it was gone all perished. The brakes were probably replaced already on that. Surprised it hasn't sold already. The loader alone is worth 5k.

I like watching the donedeal and tractors ain't disappearing as fast these time. I was following an mf860, the past few weeks. If it was a couple of years ago, it would not have been there a week. Money is getting scarce

definitely agree with you on that. Have been watching a few. Tractors lately and they are slow to move. Was in with a dealer in the last few weeks and he has €2500 knocked off the price already. I think it’s going to be a slow half year as money is. It there and lads more interested in buying fodder, straw or paying off feed bills. Might be a bit more bargains than the last few years

They are a great little tractor, the 3-cylinder engine is an absolute miser on diesel. Everything is working on it too, including the little light in the dash. Haven't got the original plough lamp for the back.

I'd say they are in the 7k range now with the way the price of everything (bar cattle) has shot up

135s have always been in demand for as long as I remember. A great little yoke. They'll run forever. They were always relatively "expensive" due to the demand …. a bit like the 390 became as well.

I suppose people often value them more than they are objectively worth to others. Someone must be buying them at somewhere in that order of magnitude though……..If they are asking 5k you're probably not going to get it for 3k off them.

Probably won't but a lot in the higher price range stay advertised for a long time, I'd suspect you are right about not getting it off them real cheap either but I'd say many at silly money are simply withdrawn and put back in the shed rather than sold at all.

95 hp. It would be nice to have a bit more throttle left when half way up the hill. 6 ton, buckets and trailer is a good pull.

That one is hardly going to be got within your budget. I'd say you'd need to add a fair bit to it, but that's not saying it's a bad value tractor. You won't get one better prepared anyway…. Those 35 series have a dry clutch. The newer versions have a wet clutch, which would be more desirable….

you won’t get that for your budget it has low hours and Mchugh always charges a premium. However tractor would be 100% and might be better value long term rather than a cheaper yoke needing parts after 2 months.

McHugh always seems to have well prepared tractors for sale. When refurbing them would they normally split them to do the clutch and brakes or is it mostly cosmetic only work?

Anyone know the Craic nowadays with bringing in a tractor from the UK.

Say a yoke is 20k stg, farmer selling no vat his end. Not vat registered here. What extra tariffs, duty etc would it cost anyone any idea?

Would getting it back through larne on the ferry make any odds?

Going to be vat this end either way, where it's made will impact customs.

BBut think there was a tread on it.

WWould advise talking to some of the haulage companies or trusted agents.
