Fairly recently I enquired off the national ispca centre in Longford about rehoming a dog, filled out the form and heard nothing for a long time when I rang back I was told I wouldn't qualify because I work and won't be home all day with the dog, let me just add I have rehomed 6 dogs before, all had great lives, slept in the house, walked daily, one lived to 17, I always keep 2 dogs for companionship, I'm not really surprised that centres are full and I'm all in favour of background checks but surely you don't need to give up work to adopt a dog, it's just something else gone slightly overboard.
