The top division is A, then it's A1, B, B1 all the way to F on Saturday. On Sunday it goes from Division 1 to 13. Are you lookin to compare Saturday B to Sunday Division 1? Division 1 should be a better standard but not always that way.

Much of a muchness i'd say. Division 1 might be a little stronger but hard to know. Do many of your players play other sports like GAA, Sunday might be a better fit for the team then.

At our age group, I would consider Div 1 Sun football to be better than Div B Sat. I've no idea about u10.

I assume you're asking because you and your child's ambition is to go on to play at National League Level?

At u10 there are still a lot of years left before they are too old to 'make it'. I would choose the team based on how much game time they are likely to get, what position/positions they will be expected to play versus the position they'd like to play, chemistry with the coaches, do they know anyone on the team, logistics of getting to training/matches, logistics of fitting in with other activities in the weekly schedule, pathway to progress within the club (ie have a team playing n Prem/Major) before choosing a team mainly based on the Division they are playing in.

Underage football is a brutal world the higher up you go. This is the horrible time of the year when coaches are looking to 'strengthen' teams and players are looking to play 'higher'. It basically means many people are lying to many others to try and achieve their own personal objectives. I've seen coaches build massive squads where players get at most half a game. I've seen players commit to a team, train with them for all of pre-season and the week before the league starts, jump to another club, playing 2 divisions higher. A year later, and minimal game time, they've now joined a 3rd club and back at their original level.

My advice would be for your child to join the team where they are likely to enjoy playing football the most, where they are most likely to continue playing through their (difficult) teenage years. And if their dream career is to play professional football, supervise and help them with their school homework so that they are prepared for real life for when football reality knocks on the door.
