Not sure if I've opened this in the correct place?

Anyway, has anyone else in the Air BnB hosting game experienced a downturn this year?

    Ours has been quite dramatic

No, quite the opposite, lots more bookings, in the peak season anyway, things seem a bit slower for October/November, but that could change.

Defo less interest than last year in our place but we do 3 week plus bookings. Got a cancellation 5 days out though recently and had another booking a day or two later though so still have full occupancy generally.

Check your pricing and consider using their dynamic function which puts the price up/down depending on demand in the area, also, your cancellation policy, particularly if it is too strict might be putting people off, especially those coming from abroad a few weeks ago when the aer lingus pilots were threatening strike action. Beyond that, the weather being so bad might be reducing the number of people who want to holiday at home/in Ireland, can’t blame people for wanting to go to the sun.

I have just rented out house for two weeks but only received about 10 percent of payment today. The guests have arrived with two days.Is this normal?Haven't rented place out this long previously.

That is unusual, have you logged in to your Airbnb account to check if there is an issue? Contact their customer service.

do ye only use AirBnB as a hosting agent?

as an off thought. I was looking last night and saw a cheaper two night stay in a 4 star hotel with dinner for next week than what accommodations all along the western seaboard for two nights were costing. I was just looking for a break for myself but some of the airbnb prices are hotel prices without a similar value.

I only use Airbnb, just a personal choice.

The benefit of Airbnb over a hotel may not be as obvious for a single occupant, but may be considerably cheaper for a family/group when multiple rooms are involved. Also, a lot of families/groups may want self catering and laundry during their stay, rather than be tied into hotel food/times.

I agree with you. I hadn’t put in any search details it was just offers locally that popped up. So it didn’t specify how many occupants just costs a night.

Ive found air bnb to be very practical for some stays.
