Engine misfire(?) issue resolved itself...?

Hi all, hoping for some advice from more knowledgeable heads than myself

Our petrol Qashqai had a slight judder when accelerating, at about 2800rpm in any gear, for month or so. Last week it got much worse and the engine warning light came on. However, the light went off and the issue itself has now gone away, it's driving really smoothly now

I got an OBD reader and the warning was the cruise control servo. Checked cruise control though (I never usually use it), working fine

Anyway, my question is should I stick it in the garage now even though it's symptomless and there's no errors? Have it booked in for next week but thinking of cancelling

Can these things resolve themselves? (A blockage freed up perhaps?)

Or is it likely the issue is still there, just not affecting the drive at the moment?

I appreciate I've probably been a bit vague for well informed answers, just wondering what others would do if a problem seemed to go away?

    Thanks

I'd wait till it happens again and go to a garage. Could be a lot of things like a bad injector, coil pack, spark plug. But the issue wasn't really that bad if it was only a slight hesitation as if one of those parts I listed went bad it would drive very poorly.

edit: I forgot do you drive long distances? very important if you do as you do not want to be very far from home and it breaks down. And it's usually the way of these things. As in the car breaks down at the worst possible time.

Thanks Luna - no, we rarely drive any significant distance. But usually with kids in tow, so it would still be a pain if it breaks down on us

I could have been bad petrol, I bought petrol last year, and while filling the car , i also filled a 10L jerry can for the lawn mower.

When filling the car i got a strong smell of petrol.. it was sour.

When checking the jerry can, after.. it was such a sour smell. the petrol was definitely old stock, and stale.

Worked fine in the car as its an old jap import designed to run on 89+ron, and the lawnmower.. hey that will run on the most basic fuel.

Fill your car from a very busy station the next few times and see how things go.

    Interesting

It did get worse as the tank got quite low and seems to have resolved after refilling, maybe it was something that simple

    Thanks for the reply!
