    Good morning,

Can anyone tell me how long you can leave a skip on the path outside your house for during construction works?

Builder is doing it in a piecemeal fashion so don’t want to fall foul of regs

No time at all. They're not permitted on public paths here at all. Any reputable skip hire company will advise you on your area.

This reminds me of the old Tommy Cooper joke….. I asked the council if I could have a skip outside my house. They said … sure, grab a rope and off you go. 😁

To be more helpful… Dublin City Council byelaws about skip placement (other council areas may have different regs) :

I didn't see a specific mention of a time limit, but the drop and collect dates must be specified in the permit application. The allowed time might then depend on other factors such as skip size and the exact location. The time period decision might be made considering all submitted factors.

I suppose the short answer is that in order to be sure you do not fall short of regs, you would need to look them up for your specific location.
