Amorim’s system requires running and work rate. Sancho may have the skill set, but he doesn’t have the workrate or attitude.

And Amorim strikes me as smarter than re-introducing poisonous attitudes to the dressing room

Chelsea will buy him for the £25m or so and somehow get a club to buy him for £40m.

And you also have people saying that it's his teammates fault that he has stopped trying. The answer, as usual is somewhere in the middle.

He'd be worth around £40m if he was paid a reasonable wage but he's on probably twice what he's worth, so that'll always limit his transfer fee.

He wouldn't be worth 40m on this year's performances anyway. Few good games and he was back then tapered off and does nothing. Rashford will be same, start well then when you need consistency and, someone to pick the team up they are nowhere to be found

Taking Sancho back would be a disaster, end of.

I didn't want Qatar to buy Utd but it made me laugh a couple of years ago when people were pointing to PSG as a circus and were saying the Qataris couldn't run a football club properly etc. The reality is they've run the club very well over the last decade, and they were just going through a blip during that time. They are lightyears ahead of us and most PL teams, and that didn't happen overnight.

Absolute head loss to have to come into the United thread after you get knocked out of the Champions League. What happened to the “different proposition entirely” at Anfield. No goals in 120 mins…

They ran the club horrifically but seem to have got their **** together in the last year or more but **** knows if they are above board on running the club fairly, a state sponsored club used for sport washing doesn't care about running a club profitably and that gives them a huge advantage

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 576 ✭✭✭Seattle

No, they were running the club good all along. You don't turn into a technically classy team like that overnight, it's the result of years of team planning and high quality recruitment. Even when they were going through a blip, they were still technically quite good and had a modern style of play.

Running the club good all along? You are having a laugh it's not so long ago,.messi, Neymar and Mbappe were walking around the pitch in the champions league earning insane wages. While the other players defending what is modern about that style.

There was always in fighting and interference from the higher ups against managers and recruitment

There has been huge wastage of money, constantly buying up players for Europe for huge prices and wages that is in no way sustainable if you are trying to run a club profitably or legitimately.

They have thrown huge resources at the club for years and are in one horse league so constantly have access to the champions league which helps keep the players coming in and eventually the power of money will win out, they have as i said seemingly for their **** together recently and are staying out of the managers way and letting him do his thing

But its genuinely laughable if you even had a passing interest in what they have done over there history you would say they're are any way close to being well run in that time.

Unless you think firing money into the abyss without any consequences is a well run club

And I'll also add while it's amusing for a united fan to see Liverpool knocked out the day psg win the champions League will be a sad day for football

Remove your reference to Messi Neymar and Mbappe.also the one horse league and access to Champions League and that reads like you are talking about United and not PSG

They are an incredible team right now. Their midfield trio and front three are a joy to watch. They will take some beating this year. But it's laughable to suggest (not that you have) that they are well run. A total vanity project that has had access to unlimited funds and has taken over a decade to finally put together a fully functioning 11. I'd hate to have people like that in charge of Utd. For his faults I'd much rather SJR

You selectively pick out and focus on all the things that they haven't done well over the last decade whilst ignoring all the stuff they have done very well. They had a general plan as to how they'd like to play, bought squad players that fit that style and were compatible with each other (highly technical, possession oriented). That meant that even when they had a rough patch in 2022/23, they were able to bounce back and be the team they are today. They were never too far away because the sporting structure at the club had solid fundamentals in place.

Its funny that the emergence of PSG being a top 'team' has come as reports of Qatar losing interest in them arose - that with the WC done, and Neymar/Messi/Mbappe gone they have allowed the footballing people at the club to make the decisions rather than buying and playing galacticos for wow factor.

Hopefully we see similar results from footballl people being employed to and empowered to make football decisions. Will take time cause our financial situation needs to be stabalised.

They have spent as much as Utd or perhaps even less over the last decade.

They have had a serious sporting structure for years and are very well run for the most part. They have a sustainable model built up over years, this team didn't just emerge overnight through luck.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,646 ✭✭✭All_in_Flynn

Enrique has been the bridge for them. They are so much more balanced this season.

However, they've have been ran terribly prior to that with their galactico transfer policy.

Their CEO is up on charges in France for host of things including Corporate abuse. They are about as shady as it comes. We dodged a bullet with the Qatari's.

I don't get the comparison to United - we all say United have been poorly ran for 20 years. Why are we being used as a benchmark in this respect?

A sustainable model? in 2022/23 their player wages were 7million a week. They were paying Mbappe 72million a year, alone. That year they made a loss of 107million, which to be fair was a great improvement on the 375million loss the year before.

I guess they have just been really good at getting massive sponsor deals with… Qatar Airways. The QTA. Qatar national Bank. BeIN.

You know what United should do though? They should try get the people that were involved in such commercial deals invovled at United. Such as that Jean Claude Blanc fella. Or Mark Armstrong.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 576 ✭✭✭Seattle

I mean sustainable due to the sporting structure they had at the club - how they generated the financials are a different story.

They went through a rough patch in 2022-2023, as did Liverpool. Did they have to rip up the entire squad and start from scratch? No, because they had solid foundations to fall back on. They've had a professional sporting structure at the club for years, that had a pretty good idea of the type of players they wanted to integrate into the squad.

They've obviously made lots of mistakes and made galactico plays that didn't work as intended (although it can be a viable strategy as Madrid have proven). But overall they haven't been poorly run in the grand scheme of things. Man Utd and Chelsea are the bar for what poorly run looks like.
