Hi, heading to NY in October for a few days. Can you recommend a hotel that is fairly central and reasonably priced for a couple? TIA

Hi :) centrally located and reasonably priced hotel is very hard to find in NY. Prices are really gone crazy. We just stayed in Innside by Melia 2 weeks ago. Great location, very clean and a great young vibe. Over the years we stayed in different hotels in NY. I always check out priceline.com, hotwire.com, booking.com and etc. Last hotel I booked through Priceline. As long as reviews/ratings are good, location generally will be good as well. NY is very foot/subway friendly so you can play with location a bit.

@SweetSand gave some great recommendations. I'll also suggest looking at the Hotel Penn 11th, in Chelsea. Last time I stayed there it was around $150-170 per night and the location is convenient to many subway lines. It's clean and comfortable without breaking the bank.

my advice don't stay in Manhattan at all, instead go for Hoboken (opposite on other side of the Hudson)

waaay cheaper/better value, stunning view, you'll get a nights sleep & you can use the little ferries which are quick and an extra bit of fun

e.g. Sheraton Lincoln Harbor Hotel if budget permits, ask for a "city view" room. you'll thank me ;)

You could try Radio City apartments, very central and the apartments have their own kitchenette,if that would suit. Reviews are good.

Had 2 rooms- 5 adults- Courtyard New York Manhattan/ chelsea four nights in July. Booked through Marriot Bonvoy app was cheaper...great value for location, 5 min walk Penn station, clean, rooms decent size for location. No bar, but plenty nearby. Police station same street if worried about safety ( not that there's any need to be). No hesitation staying there again.

Stayed in the LUMA Hotel Times Square in February … nice place 5 mins walk from Times Square. Modern tech in the rooms was great.

Radio city and Luma has no availability on the days we are visiting NY.

Courtyard New York Manhattan/ chelsea seems nice even though price is on the higher side. seems there not much options.

Last time we stayed in Arlo Nomad and before that POD 51. Arlo Nomad was a slightly better location, and we slightly preferred it from that position. You could walk everywhere from both. Rooms were small, but we would absolutely stay in either again. Wasn't too expensive either.
