Cannot access current affairs

Hi All,

Hope all going well for the moderation team and you had a chance to enjoy the good weather.

I'm writing as following a post of the recent Haerretz story on the Israeli Hannibal directive, it appears I am no longer allowed access to the current affairs boards.

I can appreciate that such a story might be upsetting to some and perhaps more sensitivity was required on my behalf when posting such an exposé and maybe I need to work on my decorum however, I haven't received any correspondence about the revoking of access to current affairs.

Any guidance you can provide would be appreciated.

Just checking in to see if anyone is looking into this.

I've logged out and can access current affairs but when I log in I get the following:

You do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. Your user account may be banned from this forum or may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

I have not received any warning or explanation for why this might have happened so baffled.

Does anyone know if I don't receive a response here should I go somewhere else?

Just to reiterate and extend,

I got a warning previously on May 6 when I responded emotionally to an abusive post. I was advised to flag rather than respond and took that advice on board. I say this to illustrate that I can operate the notifications and have an awareness of how the site might work.

As mentioned in my post, I commented on an investigative article from Haerretz. The article revealed some questionable decisions by the IDF.

I received no warning or notification and my access was cut off without explanation following the comment.

I am in favour of a ceasefire in Palestine and an end to the killing of civilians in Gaza. I have previously commented from that perspective and appreciate that might be offensive to some and if the presentation of such data needs to be moderated, I am prepared to be more careful in my delivery if necessary

As I say, there has been no explanation at all, so any feedback appreciated.

Starting to feel a bit frustrated to be honest.

Would be great if someone could advise. Perhaps I should be following an alternate process?

I just had a look for you, you were perma banned on 7/7/24, I don't know which mod banned you though it wasnt me anyway.

Moved to Helpdesk, as the OP can't even start DRP if they aren't aware who issued the ban, and can't PM them as a result.

Although upsetting to read of the ban, at least I know why I cannot access current affairs. Would be good to get some feedback from the person who issued the ban. Maybe there was something I said that particularly upset them and I could observe a more cautious approach on whatever issue concerns them.

I've pretty much given up for the time being. To summarise, following a post in the Hamas thread where I highlighted this article

I have been banned from current affairs by an unknown moderator without any warning or reason given.

I'm not a long term boardie and so maybe this is not unusual but strikes me as unusual.

I'll check in again in a week as maybe just takes time for things like this to process..

Thanks for pointers from moderators in this thread and hopefully some feedback can be given and possibly a path to redemption identified.

Unfortunately we cannot determine who issued this and in the circumstances I am lifting the forum ban

We would expect a mod to add a note explaining why a ban was issued, but this has not happened here
