Hi, We are hoping to move to Portmarnock next year. My son will be starting school in September 2025 but we might not be living in Portmarnock when the application needs to be made. I noticed that St.Helen's was undersubscribed last year but the national school was oversubscribed. Is there any reason for this? Thanks!!

You tend to go to whichever school you live closer to, top half of Portmarnock (Above Beach Park) go to Helen's, the bottom half go to Marnocks. Never heard anything bad about either.

Its worth noting that a lot of new housing has popped in the St Marnock's half in recent times so that likely explains the oversubscription. I suspect a new school will be needed in the Drumnigh area before long.

There is a lot more newer housing - and children of primary school age - at the southern end of Portmarnock than the northern end.
