Engagement ring

    Hi

I have an engagement ring from a previous relationship that I would like to sell. This ring was custom-made and recently appraised at €5,900. Initially, I intended to keep the ring for my nephew when he grows older, but friends advised against it, considering its not appropriate since my ex-fiance and I did not work out. Therefore, I hope to do something positive with it instead.

My Daughter is getting to university age and would like to add to her uni-fund. By selling the ring, I could cover a significant portion of this expense, which would greatly benefit her. While I don't expect to get the full amount for the ring, I would appreciate any advice on the best way to sell an engagement ring. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thank you,
    Peter

I assume you are the male in the failed relationship and I don't know who both gave you the ring and paid for it but an engagement ring is considered a 'gift' to the recipient and is normally not returnable to the donor if the engagement does not proceed. get some legal advice on the matter.

What? Sounds like the ring is in his possession and was either A) never accepted or B) already returned. Nothing legal needed unless you want to get into the weeds tax-wise.

You can sell it to a jeweller or on the likes of done deal. If you go the done deal route a buyer will legitimately expect you to jump through a few verification hoops like an independent appraisal.

The amount one would get for a second hand ring is much less than the appraised value. There could be disappointment ahead.
