Have had 5 interviews for various roles in Irish Water and have been placed on 5 different job panels from these interviews but haven't heard anything further from them in regards to filling any of the roles other than confirmation email stating my interview was successful and I would be contacted when a position became available in my location. Some of those panels are approaching 12 months..Has anyone else any experience???

Jvrk ..Yes I feel your pain.i managed to get a response from them but not much help or enlightenment to my question of where I was placed on the panel?? "We can't discuss your placement on this panel as it's still an active recruitment panel and are still interviewing for the above mentioned position".even though you're placement on the panel is twelve months and we are now 10 months into it..

    I applied in May.

Interviewed on first week of July.

    Successful panel placement email today.

Might get a shout by Christmas for a vacancy.

I know when interviewed I was told after by another person organising interview he never failed to place some1 who made a panel. Unless pay was way out of between what was offered and what was looking for. Too even know number on panel would be good start wonder if delay between swapping over council workers to them waiting too see who moves or who retires.

    Just to give my take.

Guy who phoned me and offered the interview said the whole process of changing over from local authority to UE has been greatly underestimated. He maintains he will never fill all available roles.

Skip to the interview process and I was told there are no vacancies available and I would hear from them in 6-8 weeks should I make the panel. I heard from them in 3 weeks.

This has me thinking they are either panicking or there are genuinely lots of vacancies to fill as I know a lot of the current local authority workers in my area who are eligible to change over to UE are almost at retirement age.

Same with me as know lads in water in council all at or near retirement age also. But I was also told I wouldn't make panel with role I applied for unless I had experience in doing role as to transition over from current job would be a a complete 180.

Time will tell how I get on but fingers crossed.

Council workers are given three options and it needs to be all sorted by quarter four 2025 to allow for training of new UE hires.

    Options are:

Voluntary redundancy, transfer to another council department or transfer to UE.

Hopefully we get sorted as looking for a career move to something new and different away from computers.

What type of roles are people applying for?

I applied for an engineering position. Got put on to the panel in May. Haven't heard anything since.

This appears to be the norm judging from people's experiences on here.

Seems to be on the go slow across a number of roles

Started my time with Uisce eireann and then went over to GMC for the install and heavy civils side of Engineering.

Can be very tedious to get in with Irish water permanent. But persist with it and it's very rewarding financially.
