    Hi ,
My mum has a bad issue with her shoulder (advanced osteoarthritis with a tear plus more issues ) It may need surgery. She is 78.
She does not have private health insurance. She has a medical card.
Does anyone know , if she needs surgery , how much would it cost to go private ?
Or if she went publicly , does anyone know how many years she would be waiting ?
    Kind regards

privately it would cost in the region of €3500. Waiting lists on the ppublic sector are very long, however it depends which region she's living in. Make an appointment for her to see her GP, she will need to be referred for xrays/ scans before any decision regarding surgery is decided. Also there is the cross border directive she can avail of, if the public waiting list is very long. Good luck.
