First route is a lovely route and possibly the most popular in Galway. Heading into Spiddal from Moycullen on a clear day will provide one of the best views over Galway Bay.

If your feeling adventurous then continue past Moycullen to Oughterard and then left over to Rosaveal. Although that's 100km but my favorite Galway loop.

Go with the 1st route for that distance, I did it last weekend and 2 weekends before that as a nice route.

City to Oughterard and across the mountain to Rosaveal 100km is great, we detoured over it for the Croi cycle as way more scenic.

Going west from Galway city doesn't have many good options; between lakes, topography and ribbon development there is no real cycle friendly route.

I'd consider Spiddal, Oughterard and headford roads pretty sh1t for cycling.

Best option would be Eurovelo 1 route out of city almost to Oughterard and across to coastal road at Ros and Mhíl and back coastal road.

Be careful it's not called Europe's longest street for nothing.
