If it was a vertical pole and it is still vertical after going that far into the front of your car to leave the bonnet like it is, then you are looking at a radiator, bumper bar and a few other bits, fixable it is, how much it costs depends on the damage underneath the bumper.

That looks like it could only be fixed with a car transplant.

If I was you as I think that car is 10 years old plus. Is be looking online donedeal find the parts to see can you hopefully get them same Colour then might be able to fix it for small enough money.

Aye your right, I need to take to gargage to see the score, whether to claim from insurance is the question- if write of prob take the loss of NCB and premium increase which they get there money back.

Take it to an independent panel beater/body shop.

You'll need to balance the price of the job against the value of the car to you.

If it's a good runner with no other issues and an NCT fixing it up with second hand parts may be a good option.

Whats the story with insurance, can I look about to see the score before contacting them, would they most likely write it of?, given the price of cars now it would be go a fair bit minus the excess and scrap(10% I'd guess).Never claimed myself before….

Is your insurance fully comprehensive? Often they will right it off just for handiness sake and the time it takes to get done. As said go to panel beater specialist and they can quote.

As said it is "fixable" but its still toast. Insurance would write it off for sure. Even if using second hand parts and willing to drive around with odd coloured panels, 1980s style, it'll cost comfortably into 4 figures. As well as the obvious bonnet, slam panel and bumper bar, possibly lights, other bits and pieces, there could well be damage to the subframe or longitudinal members = it's bollixed

Yes comprehensive, by just write it off for handiness would an assessor come round from the insurance(?)and just make an immediate payment. I'll need wheels..

You’d definitely get the parts from a scrapyard if you didn’t want to go through insurance. Would look a lot better than trying to fix that bonnet
