Flying with air france next month.

What is it like, 5 seats across. Is it very small inside.

I've flown on an AF one. Comfortable and with decent-sized windows. Nicer than a 737 or A320 IMO.

    Passenger USB ports fitted also.

The A220 is my easily my favourite narrow body aircraft. I've flown it a good few times with Swiss. It's a very pleasant aircraft with large overhead bins, large windows and the 2x3 seating is less cramped than 3x3.

I'd go out of my way to fly on one over an A320 or 737.

Flew airBaltics ones, very early models where the Bombardier logo was stuck over with Airbus everywhere except just inside the door. Comfortable, unless there's insanely tight pitch it'll be better than any 737.

    A220 is great. Highly recommended.

(Also, the whale song from the engines is quite amusing….)

I develop Superior Solitaire when I'm not procrastinating on boards.ie.

It is now. The bought the entire thing off Bombardier.

The A220-100 was the Bombardier CS100, the A220-300 was the Bombardier CS300. The first two years of deliveries were branded as such.

AF ones are very fresh, windows are a great size, handy phone holders on the back of seats but the noise from the engines is noticeably louder than a 320 etc in my opinion.

Same config as a BAC 1-11. How does it compare to that 50+ years on ?

You’re comparing it to the BAC 1-11?! Good lord 😂

You might as well add DC-9 and Convair 990, also five-abreast!

And BAe 146s/Avro RJs when not in Cityjet crush configuration

Umm, I was asking how the AB 220 would compare to a 1-11 :)

WRT DC-9 & Convair I guess y'all could do that. Would mean little to me ( spent some time with 1-11s in the 70's )

The A220 is brighter and has modern fittings, but comparisons with earlier generations of aircraft are to some extent a matter of personal preference. The 1-11 was a product of early 1960s technology and was stoutly-built, so for its day it did its job pretty well, if noisily for those on the outside.

Yeah I know, you’re comparing an A220 to a BAC 1-11……let’s see now, apart from the modern and bright interior, cleaner air, considerably less noise, larger windows, onboard wifi, charging points and that the A220 is faster, safer and far more efficient….its pretty similar to the BAC 1-11. Just don’t be too surprised when you look out the window as the engines are hung from the wing 😂

First experience last week on AF example. Was quite impressed actually. Very comfortable, especially on the 2 side.

Beautiful aircraft, fresh spacious interior, lots of overhead space and comfortable to fly.

Well just back yesterday, it's well fitted out with phone charging ports usbC usbA, tablet/phone holder, coat hook, cup holder, and the standard food tray, reclining seats, lots of overhead luggage space as there's no third row on one side, I doesn't feel any smaller than a 737type when sitting on the two seat side.

Thing's I noticed, the noise from the screws in the wings and I'm guessing the underneath luggage compartment and wheels are much louder than a 737 max.

Take off was gentle, landing not so.

    Free snack and drink.

Am I right to say it feels turbulence a bit more, maybe I'm wrong as I'm a nervous flyer.

When leaving the plane, if some of the luggage bins are open on the two seat side you could easily hit your face off the corners if not looking.
