Looking to buy new car-first EV

Hi I am looking to buy an EV. Max price is 35k so my options are limited.

Rural driving - max 60km a day and often broken into multiple short journeys. Have an ICE car for longer journeys and also for journeys where boot space is needed. Can charge at home and work so no issues there. 2 adults and 2 kids - 2 kids in booster seats.

I have looked online at BYD and MG - does anyone have an advice on them or other cars. Now with the EU imposing tariffs maybe they will be also out of budget.

MG4 new would be well within your budget.

If you can stretch it to 38k you could get a new Tesla M3, or else look at a second hand one but to be honest, a new one will be better value than some of the second hand ones.

ID3 is a good option too, best advice is to make a short list and drive several cars and see which one suits you. Once you get up and running with whichever car you go for, you can expect to leave the ICE car at home for the longer journeys (unless your going to someplace with no chargers around for miles, geting rarer but still pockets of the country like this).

As @Redfox25 has said, if you pick the right EV, the ICE just won't be used. A new Tesla Model 3 is €38.6k on the road as far as I can see. You don't really select options, but the options you can pick are exterior paint, seat colour, wheel size, or if you want a tow bar. Any change will attract a premium. The Tesla is extremely efficient and range is not a concern, averaging 400km per charge. You also get access to the Tesla charger network, which is nice. I'll be driving to Germany and back next month and I have no worries about range.

You will almost certainly use it as your primary and long range vehicle and will sell the ICE and pick up a short range EV for those 60km journeys. Even a 10 year old Nissan Leaf will cover you there and they can be picked up for in good condition and good battery health for around €5k.

What am I missing? 38k value includes that BS fuel saving. The real price seems to be a tad below 42k, which is of course still excellent value for money.

Fair high mileage on it. A good few with lower mileage, some even cheaper. The ad you linked says it has heated seats, but the switches aren't there in the photos.
