Anyone know timeframe for start a job from the open panel? I have passed interview and the last message I got from PAS was to send on my qualifications a week ago. I said yes to Revenue as it would have been the most likely department anyway for my county, so I know they have positions.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6 MaxLegroom89

I also said yes to Revenue and got confirmation this morning that I'll be starting on April 7th. It probably took 3 weeks from sending qualifications to confirmation of start date. Also, garda vetting only took 3 days.

Hi, could I ask you what County are you? And was your interview from the open panel or from the EOI. Thanks!!

I'm in Dublin and interviewed for the main open competition.

Did the interview. Hard to know how it went because everything is very neutral in tone when you're in the moment. I felt they were very intentional in tailoring every question to be reflective of civil service values - nearly all questions led with mention of these so I'd advise anyone preparing to be brushed up and have examples to match these.

I had one challenging question around communication that I felt was oddly specific and it threw me a little. I found it tough to avoid being quite vague on that one as I didn't have a concrete example to match.

Overall, really not sure about it.. I feel like I did well on some questions and then was not specific enough on others, I fear I may have waffled on a couple of occasions. Oh well, at least it's done now.

Well done I'm sure you've done well. As for civil service values yes I had the same yesterday. The communication question for me was quiet a simple one as I had worked with people with intellectual disabilities for almost 7 years.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 58 ✭✭hugeorange

Yes, I definitely found some questions simple and broad enough that you could answer it in a few different ways. Just with this one question, it was conflict related, but the wording felt a little more specific than the other questions in the interview with more to it than a general "how do you deal with conflict?" question so it threw me off a little.

Can i ask roughly what Oom you were

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,119 ✭✭✭✭shmeee

And they love throwing in "how would you introduce yourself to a CO who has been in the position for 30 years and has great experience?"

I can see why they'd ask that question but it seems like a tough one to answer. Maybe drawing on their extensive experience and asking them for their input in areas where they're very knowledgeable?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 84 ✭✭Mytimetoshine22

Ye thats what i thought too about the Co question

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,401 ✭✭✭✭Turtyturd

This is the answer and not just in a bullsh!t sounds good in an interview kind of way. Management will do the SOP’s and set out how things are supposed to run but CO’s will know the reality of how things work. I’d always make time to sit down with/watch a CO to see how the process actually works on their end.

    Thanks for that.

Anyone know where I'd get proper samples for deductive reasoning gap test? There is a sample on AON but there are only a handful

Just got asked to complete pre - employment checks saying I'm under consideration for a placement in Athlone, but it doesn't say what department etc.

It says I need to submit current employer details, I've just started a job in the private sector, I assume they won't contact the current employer unless they offer me a position and I accept?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13 DeloLi

Does anyone know whether there is a difference between the open clearance process and the interdepartmental one. I have filled paperwork for clearance for interdepartmental and am just trying to gage the length of time it takes, thinking maybe interdepartmental is quicker.

I am 68 on Oom and havent heard any more since I replied to expression of interest last month. Not having much hope😒

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34 monahk10

They contacted my current employer for reference before I was officially offered a position 🫣

I'm not sure how they're dealing with the two streams now. However, it seems from what I've read earlier that people who didn't opt for the Revenue stream and passed the interview are being offered first refusal of these Revenue positions anyway. I could be wrong on that of course. Not much time left till the April deadline they've set themselves but you'd never know.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 686 ✭✭✭MidlanderMan

Did they in form you they were doing it or did they just go ahead and do it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 58 ✭✭hugeorange

Heard this happened last year too. It's crazy tbh. Puts people in an incredibly awkward (and potentially risky) position with current employer by essentially having them hand in their notice before being offered anything.

I heard Revenue interviews are at OOM 700ish, can anyone confirm?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 84 ✭✭Mytimetoshine22

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,888 ✭✭✭Iseedeadpixels

I'm in 360s for Dublin and haven't heard anything yet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,888 ✭✭✭Iseedeadpixels

Seems ur position on Oom doesnt matter. They seem to just pick people at random from the list

Could u let us know? I'd say PAS are sick of me emailing asking about current OOMs

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 130 ✭✭64869923

They're the same with me as well. In fairness they do have patience.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 226 ✭✭apkmbarry

Got an interview date for Revenue in Louth. There's movement at least.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 130 ✭✭64869923

It couldn't work like that though, they surely have to go through the OOM in numerical order. I do find it strange that nobody who has opted in for Revenue EOI has been here saying they've been called. I would have thought one person at least would have.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 130 ✭✭64869923

Congratulations and good luck with it. Is it on the back of the 'Expression of Interest' for Revenue?

    Hi All,

I had expressed interest for revenue in my county and as a result believed this would "suspend" me from the EO panel (as explained in the expression of interest circular). However, I've just received an invite to stage 2 interview for EO in early March. Does that mean I won't hear anything from Revenue (ie revenue didn't select me and therefore I'm now deemed back on the EO panel?) or, could the two be running concurrently alongside other?

Also, in my stage 2 invite, it advises that if successful at stage two, candidates are then invited to stage THREE! How many stages are there? I though success in stage two would lead to being on a panel from which roles will be filled?!

Hope that makes sense and tia for any insight!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34 monahk10

where on the invite does it state stage 3, Mine says Final stage is Interview

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,279 ✭✭✭alroley

the message about interview I got said it was the final stage. After interview the next step for me was verifying my qualifications and yesterday I just commenced pre-employment clearance as they said I am being considered for a position.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6 Tech80

Hi, sorry as this was probably asked before but I can't find the answer. I was called for interview from the EO internal panel. Does anyone know what happens if I'm successful. As I am in tranche 2 what's the possibility of getting an offer or will I just sit on a panel for 2 years until it expires.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13 DeloLi

Under new system they are interviewing in much smaller batches so if pass interview you wouldn't end up sitting on huge panel

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6 Tech80

Thanks for your reply. Hopefully I'll pass the interview.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16 ramblerandgambler

I echo the person's above question as I am in the same situation, I had expressed interest for revenue in my county and as a result believed this would "suspend" me from the EO panel (as explained in the expression of interest circular). However, I've just received an invite to stage 2 interview for EO in early March.

The stage 2/final stage interview date/info doesn't mention revenue, but am I to take this as the interview that if I pass, will be offered a revenue job?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 93 ✭✭Tinman53

I also expressed interest in Revenue position's and interviewed last week but it never stipulated on the interview invite if it was just revenue. It just said 2024 EO panel in the subject line.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 226 ✭✭apkmbarry

It is! Or at least I had expressed interest, so I'll hope and assume that's it.
