Are UK and Irish fittings the same size these days? There was a time when pipes, joints etc were different. I'm thinking of buying a mixer tap from Amazon for the bathroom sink and wanted to check if any of you could confirm that it's safe to do so.

I wonder if that would be UK mainland only? The reason I say that is a few years back I bought a set of mixer taps for the kitchen sink and got them in Strabane (NI) and they fitted fine.

You can get them to fit fine as the Irish pipe is only 14.7mm OD, but the UK is 15.00mm OD. So just sticking an extra bit of PTFE on the olive and tightening it up well should seal it. But you can't do the opposite with Irish taps on UK pipe.
