When I put up my last shed, the shed crowd put a roll of this black stuff along the top of the timber purlins. It was stapled on i think and it protects the timbers from the drips. Anyone know the exact name for it? I want to buy a roll of it

Damp proof course or DPC. Used in blocklaying and all builders merchants would stock it

Too narrow, needs to be an inch wider than the timbers at each side to keep the drips running down the sides

It's actually not to protect the timbers it's to stop the cladding going rotten when the damp reacts with the treatment on the timbers and the cladding which rots it
