    Hi folks,

Just wondering if anyone knows the current turnaround time on sending away a logbook for change of ownership? Car booked for NCT on the 27th.. deciding whether or not to hold off on sending it. It's a transfer from my wife's name to me so no funny biz

I’ve never been asked for a logbook for the NCT.
even if they do look they might just hold the cert until you produce it.

You don’t need a logbook for the NCT. Anyway its about 10 to 14 days

Well, the NCTS website (FAQ 9, line 12 here: https://www.ncts.ie/1123/ ) states that you should bring it with you, as does item 8 in the NCT Checklist doc here: https://www.ncts.ie/Media/5iaecn2j/preparing-for-your-nct.pdf . Most centres I have been to have not asked for it but it'll be the one time you don't have it that they will ask! Not sure what happens if you don't produce it though.

I would be inclined to wait (it is only a week anyway), unless there is an urgent reason for changing ownership. Either way, as said, it can take up to 2 weeks to get the new cert back in the post.

Yes it does say that, but as we all know its not enforced and even the NCT staff will tell you that you don’t need your logbook. All you need is photo ID.

Anyway if you forget your documents they will still NCT your car and give you a fail sheet if you fail. They just won’t give you the pass certificate until you present your missing documents (such as ID or logbook)

Very recent change of ownership, about a week.
