    Hi

I have ordered PV panels (including an eddi). I have no thermostat on my hot water cylinder which I need for the eddi to work (so I'm told). Can anyone link me to the type of thermostat I would need? The current immersion I have goes in from the top (rather than the side). Would one of these work? https://www.screwfix.ie/p/drayton-hts3-cylinder-stat/95630

You will probably get best advice on here if you share some pictures of your current immersion & thermostat setup.

Most immersion elements have an in-built thermostat (in fact I believe they may have to these days?). Can you confirm it doesn't have one? It's usually hidden under the 'lid' of the element.

I am guessing the red dial is probably a thermostat? But there is no way to know what the temperature is?

You don't need a thermostat for the EDDI to work. Right now your immersion turns itself off when temp is maxed out, it will be no different with the EDDI.

Yep, to second what slave1 said, you don't need a thermostat for the eddi to work.

The immersion element will cut out when the tank gets up to temp (as evidenced by the existence of the thermostat on your element, red dial as you saw).

Be aware, the eddi won't display your tank temperature without additional sensors & the eddi sensor board.
