some would just add a few units to last manual reading to supplier for invoicing purposes to avoid attention

I have been adding a few units each billing period for more than 2 years now. Over winter it usually catches back up unless the system is big. Don't let the meter reader in! If the meter is outside it will most likely be changed but if inside you don't have to accept a smart meter if you don't want it.

I have postponed my meter replacement every 6 months since my install over 2 years ago no problem with the contractor when they get in touch. Just keep an eye on what you submit and never submit a lower reading.

Don't expect anything from life, just be grateful to be alive.

Presumably your solar installer submitted the NC6 form so your energy supplier knows you have solar anyway? Are you getting deemed feed in tariff?

The 3 choices are: Don't submit any reading and take the estimated bill and all will be fine, submit a slightly positive reading and all will be fine, submit a negative reading and open yourself up to a world of unnecessary hassle.

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

If you have an EV or home battery and then also load shift the usual like dishwasher, washing machine, immersion..., a smart meter using a cheap night night will be less expensive.

I know as I did the maths myself. Plus there is no way to get charged in arrears.
