New System - Issue with MyEnergi App never shows production surplus when clearly is

Hi,

Sorry if this is in wrong place. I got a 6.5kw system installed last week. From a production point all seems to be going well and as expected. I have an Eddi but no battery. Basically the MyEnergi App never shows anything going to eddi/hot water or exporting. Basicall as solar output rises and falls the home consumption just seems to move with it so picking up house icon as always consuming full output.

So we might have nothing new put on consuming energy but as solar goes from 1kw as high even as 5kw solar production then the home consumption goes from 1kw to 5kw. They just follow each other all day like that. Leads to zero going to eddi and zero to export.

Only other change I ever see is if maybe ramp up energy consumption in house then it might show like 0.1 or 0.2 being imported from grid.

Its clear something is wrong and will go back to installers. But just wondering if anyone has any idea what might be done wrong?

I also want to make sure I am getting credit for the exports. The eddi is only reading info and hopefully its eddi setup wrong.

We would be 0.2-0.3kw on standby as house and on average 10-15kwh a day house. The app is showing us consuming more like 25w per day.

Sounds like a mix up with the ct clamp. Either in the wrong place or installed backwards.

Thanks for that. And would I be right in that other than it messing up the reads for the Eddi diverter it has no impact on what actually is exported i.e. in reality if generating surplus then it is being exported

Exactly, it's really just impacting your MyEnergi readings. Does your inverter show any readings?

My inverter app just shows me production as far as I can see. The production total from inverter app and myrnergi app are almost exact same. The production seems to be fine. In my simplistic head I know there is surplus and Eddi is not sending it to hot water due to above issue. Im just assuming in reality in background it must be exporting...has to go somewhere!

I'd say you're bang on and it is exporting away. If you have a smart meter you could check that. Press the blue button until you see the figure for A-.

Just give your installers a call OP, it's a 30second fix if you don't want to do yourself

Agreed, did it myself on a Zappi install before, but I tested everything before leaving the job and recognised the error. What always worries me with this sort of mistake is not that they made it in the first place, but that the couldn't be arsed checking before leaving site. What other tests did they fail to do?

Agreed with this (and slave's comment above). To be fair though, it could just be an honest mistake rather than laziness etc. I know I make mistakes all the time.

That said, it's kind of like "you had 1x job to do" :-)

Thanks for all the comments and feedback. Thats good that seems to just be a small quick fix on clamps. To be fair to them I found them to be quite thorough and good. Ive seen the outcome of dodgy operators and you get a sense for it. Saying that there are simple checks and does it raise concern what else they didnt test. To be fair this test isnt something thats gonna leave system unsafe it seems and if doing this day in and day out it is likely that they just were certain it was right. I didnt pick it up at time as when app going here it was 1kw generation and 1kw use and didnt jump off as wrong to me. Thanks all. Will ring them tuesday morning

Thanks for this. I dont have a key currently to access the meter box but will get one. I did check on esb networks my usage from smart meter. It is only showing all import data when I download it though. Nothing shows as export. But im wondering until nc6 form goes through will it show export data?

That's essentially historical data, a good few days behind. You also need to be on a smart tariff to see the export. A pliers will open the meter cabinet fyi.

Thanks. Im still on standard tariff with sse and no immediate plan to move to smart. Ill open up the smart meter and check what its saying on exports

You don't need to be on a Smart Tariff to see export, I'm on a legacy D/N and can see export

I stand corrected then, when I was on a non smart tariff I couldn't see the export. As soon as my smart tariff was activated I could then see it.

Thanks for info. Do you need to have nc6 form piece done before it will show?

I look up smart readings on esb networks. Im seeing plenty times it go to zero import but not seeing any export.

By way of update. Rang them today. Nice lads. They got me to update firmware on eddi then move clamps around. I was bit uncomfortable in around the wires as mine not very accessible. Same issue still and they were saying kinda dont know. and they were trying to get me to contact MyEnergi but I was taking view its not my issue to resolve etc.

No but they will be back around again. They are nationwide. Likely be case of just needing to wait it out. They did a good tidy job overall but I have decided this is just their issue to fix now. I owe over half still so know from past jobs to hold back some money until job fully done
