    Born on March 17, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, Gacy was the second of three children. His father, John Wayne Gacy Sr., was a World War II veteran and a strict disciplinarian who often physically abused his children. Gacy's mother, Marion Elaine Robinson, was a devout Catholic who struggled with mental health issues. As a child, Gacy was often bullied by his peers and suffered from a heart condition that required multiple surgeries.
