The Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications, Eamon Ryan, has announced the appointment of Fergal Mulligan as a Commissioner to the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU), following an open competition run by the Public Appointments Service (PAS).

The question is, will it make any difference. I doubt it.

Another fella to do the same feck all as the last fella.

It will be interesting to see where the old one goes. Does he get a nice juicy position on the board of some energy company?

If my past interactions with the CRU (then CER) are anything to go by, this is meaningless.

Is the minister taking a mulligan with the CRU?
