Export meter readings not verifiable

Since last year I have a smart meter whilst before I got paid according the deemed daily export values.
Now that the real daily export values are registered you would think that there is a way to verify what is on the bill with wat is on the meter.

The smart meter display A- registers the cumulative export readings. From my experience these readings are never used on bills. Instead suppliers get handed the export data from ESBN. However this is not transparent to consumers.
I am used to usage meter readings on bills. Is it too much to expect the same for export meter readings.

Unless I am overlooking something there is no way to verify the export!

Energia have added that information to there bills, also includes the date range export applies to as on bill the usage period and export period are different +- 2/3 days. That was most recent bills, previous bill did not include it.

Edit: to clarify in the past I think they just reported x units exported as part of the bill calculation. whereas now they include the data range and units in an earlier section of the bill

My bills have had the export readings since CEG came into effect, the first was retrospective but clearly gave the dates applied.

I get a separate "invoice" from Flo Gas every two months which lists kWh exported, I'd prefer if it was an actual reading i.e. cumulative units but alas just a dump units exported

Mine says when it's measured to (from the last bill) and how much, I'm on flogas

    Who are you with?

(Edit, omg vanilla you are trashing pictures currently on mobile 😂)

I'm with Pinergy. They give 25cent per kWh. But I don't trust their billing. They only send out an email every month, Hurrah you have earned 167 euro, etc.. No where to check from the readings from the physical meter.

I'm just off the phone to the ESB and they tell me they have nothing to do with the export side of the smart meter. They don't read anything from it whatshowever.

This the supplier that reads it only. And they can make mistakes in their favor.

I guess only I can do is take a meter reading at start of billing period and at end. That should tell us. I've seen that when remote data reading fails on the day that supplier uses deemed value.

The last bit, about deemed export being used when remote readings fail is true. I wonder should I get a small 2g signal blocker for around my meter during the winter months!

    I'm not doubting you but

I'm just off the phone to the ESB and they tell me they have nothing to do with the export side of the smart meter. They don't read anything from it whatshowever.

    sounds like complete BS

Yeah, the ESB portal shows the smart grid energy export. And import separately on a dashboard. So you can see export from the ESB site.

Yeah I agree, it's the esbn that tells the supplier what "you" have used on their meter.

It's not the suppliers meter, like they have in GB

Just sounding what I was told by ESB on the phone.

But the ESB portal does not have the exported electricity in kWh. So pretty useless

Yes it does, just needs fundamental calculations but in this day and age it should be done on their website page to make things easy and clear to understand for all......but ESBN don't like that like most Civil Service structures

It has the power exported over the last day only. Do you go in every day and calculate the integral to get the daily kWh?

How do people get the daily figures here, i wonder.

The ESBN data isn't updated daily.

I use and app to fetch daily, but only see updates maybe once a week. So I also fetch from my inverter which is more reliable, if not more accurate (pretty close to be fair).

Then I can see how much I will or have paid for any period, and the percentage at each rate (time of use)

I have my own monitoring, but check against the HDF file (you don't need to do the integral, it's in 30 minute chunks so just divide by 2) in excel.

But @curioustony app does it all for you.

My MyEnergi app tells me too, as does Solarman and SofarView, just depends on how many CT clamps you have in place and what physical equipment you have installed.

Mmmh, the HDF doesn't work for me. I add the Active Export values up and it doesn't add up to the correct value. I only checked 1 day trying to get daily value.

I got a exel sheet from ESBN with daily values, the women on the phone was pulling the wool over my eyes (see previous post).
This exel data reconciles with the portals 'Power contributed to the grid' chart in kWh by the sum of all chart datapoints . (nothing dividing). This chart should have been a bar chart in my opinion, but 2 datapoint together represents 1 hour.
The value is then registered on the A- register on the display of the meter. But we'll see at the end of the month if it all adds up.

So far Pinergy haven't given me any answers why their export payments are off.

The excel sheet gives values in kW not kWh.
To get the kWh, you need to divide the the value by 2, as its 30 minute intervals.

Also be wary of missing data in the HDF, It eventually is corrected but sometimes you could be missing a few days.
Heres my excel sheet, Its Designed for DN and DST, Just paste in the hdf into the first 5 columns and It will spit out what the Use was for the specified period (on the RH side of the sheet)

To Ignore DST just set the start and end times the same.

Export your HDF file, and upload it to energypal.ie

    It's all there

    Thank you both. Awesome

Quick question on this, my esbn hdf file is showing no export for 15 April - it does show the import values. Solis shows me at roughly 25kwh generated, 11kwh exported. Emails ESBN and they say it's a provider issue. Just before I query this, my understanding was that the ESBN HDF file is the original source ? Am I mistaken ( wouldnt be the first time :-) )

Its ESBN issue nothing to do with the supplier... It's from their website!

Possibly a case of left hand(customer support) doesn't know what right hand (website) is doing.

ESBN HDF will eventually correct itself.... Eventually.

I think I'm missing the same.

edit: im missing the 15th too.

Also missing the 15th for export in the HDF, but got my bill yesterday and based on the export figures there I was credited for it. It was 22kwh higher than what I was seeing in the HDF for the period. 16th was almost the same generation for me and it's export was 22.8 so 22 seems about right.
