Moving to another country and getting payments

My friend is planning to see some of the world and is thinking about going to New Zealand and Australia for a year. I said I would keep an eye on his 50 dry hoggets and he was asking me if he can still apply for BISS and the other schemes since he will still have livestock or should he notify the Department of Agriculture?

He might be able to nominate you as 'flock keeper' thru an ER1.1 form, but the Dept might then ask if the payments should be issued to you.

Does he have an advisor he could ask?

No that's not going to work I already have my own flock number, and he needs his payments as it will be his main source of income.

if he gets all his schemes submitted to before he goes he should be fine. Sure he will have access to the online portals if he needs to do anything and sure his advisor is only a phone call away. Wouldn’t even tell the dept I’m away if I had all that done

He can and should appoint someone as herd keeper in case any inspections need to be delt with. Herd keepers are not entitled to payments, only herd owners are.

Would he be able to do the 7 month grazing and then go traveling for 5months every year?
