Why are Commercial Vehicles so expensive these days?

Honestly I remember way back in 1995 my Dad getting a brand new VW Transporter long wheelbase for 15thosand punts. It was a big thing then do. He sat us all 8 of us around the table to make sure we were OK with him doing this.

A VW Caddy yes a Caddy is €30,000 now. Crazy for a Caddy mad.

I see on Opel Vivaro E is €45,000 crazy money. A VW ID Buzz van is €66,000 stone mad. Its more expensive than the equivalent passanger car/MPV version. How is that? Is metal that much more expensive than some seats and interior fittings.

No Wonder Saic are selling more of the Maxus vans here. Grand van too.

Most of those vans are electric. Vw caddys always overpriced for what it is

Why quote the Vivaro E. You'll get a new Vivaro for €33k.

15000 IEP equates to €19050 euro. The equivalent value/spending power of 15000 punts in 1995 today is over €37000.

You're comparing apples with oranges in terms of models, currency and value.

I quoted the Vivaro E because someone I know bought one and that's what got me thinking about it. He also has an EV9 and is gone all electric. Says he would never go back. Great to see. He is very successful

Funny I was thinking along similiar lines lately. My Friends dad who is a small farmer bought a new opel combo van lately and i was surprised they are now 25K new. The Peugeot partner and Citreon berlingo are more or less the same price too.

I havent kept in touch with commercial prices over the years but i thought 25k was alot for a small commercial vehicle.

YeS it does seem like a lot alright but maybe in old money it would have been 8 or 10grand.
