    Hi,

Looking to try and do a clean of my boot area. Wife is VERY sensitive to smell and gets a smell from boot area. So looking to give it a proper clean.

sample pic below. Want to clean all the areas shown in white - boot floor (and even the underside of the boot floor) 2 x side walls, back of back seats, parcel shelf.

material is kinda like a rough carpet texture.

Should I give this a blast myself? OR just bring it to a valet crowd, not sure if they would even do this

Taxi cabs must go through this regularly when someone pukes up or spills stuff Check in under the spare wheel and under rear seats.

Pollen filter when was it last changed?

If she’s that bothered by a smell in the boot let her clean it. That will quieten her

yeah. That’s the one I was recommended alright.

Seems to be fairly straight forward to use.

I guess it should be fine on this carpet type material in the boot.

Yeah, this autoglym interior shampoo seems to get rave reviews.

In bricks and mortar shops, would places like tesco have it? Or just Halfords and motor factors.

I'd use an enzyme cleaner if there's a smell in the boot but you can just use all purpose cleaner, leave the boot open to dry for as long as you can and spray an odour eliminator afterwards

this is my main thing. What’s the best way to dry. I guess sunlight and fresh air.

Just leave the boot open, once you don't over wet it then it will be dry quickly

    +1 for the Autoglym

Worth cleaning inside the wheel well, inside boot pockets and giving the boot liner a good clean and airing

A good hoover is your friend

Not sure what car that is, but do your rear seats lift up/pop forward?

I've seen that often missed out on with cleaning, and can be a source of smells, depending on passengers/kids/dogs or carrying stuff in the boot

Kind of this idea but the back seat, usually upholstery:

    Depends on model ofc

Enzyme cleaners are great. Bleach-containing spray is good as a household stand-by as well (don't mix cleaners)

No smell once it dries, won't bleach polyester fibres

Spent about 3 hours at this today. Bought autoglym interior shampoo, no real strong smell off it at all really, kinda neutral nearly

anyway, sprayed it on. And then agitated it (have some brushes attached to a drill, cleaned these throughout the process also) and then wiped off with a rag cloth, rinsed cloth a lot to keep things clean. Did this to top and bottom of boot floor tray, 2 x side walls, back of seats, top and bottom of parcel shelf and then the felt container underneath boot floor that holds cables.

then let things dry out for a few hours but the bloody rain was kinda hampering this. I then hoovered all the areas above.

hopefully this will make a difference

    Thanks.

Im not sure if the rear seats lift up, I will check this out tomorrow.

but yeah, these could have some hidden smells and other things 😃

I'd be inclined to change the cabin air filter. Was ages chasing down a whiff in the missus' car and the filter turned out to be the source. Maybe wait to see if your current efforts are successful or not

Just checked the filter there. Seems fairly dirty - see Below. I’ve ordered one, but will take 3 days to come.

am I as well off to leave the filter out until it comes for the next 3 days? (Based on the state of it)

No harm to leave the filter out, it does look fairly filthy.

That's mank.... I'd leave it out

Always gets overlooked the cabin filter 3 days ,from where i wonder as motor factors could source in a day.

    How much they quote you?

There should be numbers on the filter for cross reference if you Google them.

Different brands will be of different quality but have used them in the garage.
