Penalty points and a fine

I was stopped 4 weeks ago at a garda checkpoint and my nct and motor tax were out.

There were minor extenuating circumstances but I was in the wrong .

I was told it would be 3 penalty points and a fine .

It is 4 weeks now and I got nothing yet in the post.

Would that be normal (it will come a few weeks later) or might they have "taken pity" on me and dropped the fine?

I think I can check my penalty points status online, is that right?

Usually it's a few days as gardai would upload the details at the end of a shift.

4 weeks is extraordinary

A few months is unheard of - a summons after not paying a fine might take a few months but not the initial ticket.

Give it another couple of weeks and you'll then most likely be in the clear and considering the delays in the NCT, gardai have official discretion for issuing tickets.

I got one after 8 months.

Edit: 54 in a 50 zone.
