I have a child well 26 with mild autism, they have an honours degree. But finding impossible to find employment.

They've had 3 short term jobs since college and can't seem to find anything. Even volunteer roles.

The are involved with 2 autism groups who try help them plus disability officer with entreo.

Any advice on where or how to find employment?

    Hi Paddie,

I'm 31 with autism. It's not always easy but once you find the right workplace with the right people who understand your strengths and weaknesses (like any colleague) you can thrive.

    What is their degree in?

    Hi Paddie,

I have Aspergers, ASD or whatever it's meant to be called these days! I would recommend reaching out to Specialisterne Ireland (https://www.specialisterne.ie/) who were a great help to me. Is your child into IT? It would of course help in that case but Specialisterne do cater for a range of skillsets.

Asiam (https://asiam.ie/) are also a good support group and I think they also help with job placements.

Feel free to drop me a PM if you want any more help with this. Something I have been through and it worked out well for me. Just need to find the right place! Al the best with it! :)

I have aspergers with great social impact. I work in risk and data science, and I'd say a large percentage of my coworkers over the years have some level of ASD too.

What I found helpful was watching youtube step by step guides on interviewing and how to read people. It depends on what aspects your son is afflicted by .

Also, I second the ASIAM reccomendation.

I have been involved with projects with Asiam/Adam but I don't know a whole lot about their support offerings. I would definitely send them an email they might have some advice.
