Illegal seizure of firearm

I recently got a protection order against my ex-partner whose family have strong Garda contacts. Two guards arrived at my home and seized my legally held firearm. They explained that this was normal policy and that all guns were automatically seized from a home where a protection order was issued ,even guns belonging to the person who had protection from the order.. In a failed barring order attempt my ex-partner claimed "I have had to get his firearm seized". Has my firearm been seized illegally?
