Hi all, just about to book Castell Montgri for the first time for 10 days in July. Has anybody been?, coming out at about €4500 (mobile + flights + car hire). I’m a veteran of the French campsites but never done Spain before. There are 2 adults and 3 kids. Sounds quite pricey though, would anybody recommend a package holiday to anywhere for a similar price or cheaper please? Thanks!

Stayed in castell Montgri a couple of years ago, really enjoyed it. Just beware it's very hilly and the main pool complex has no shade and can get really hot in july. The site we found very reasonable for eating and drinking certainly cheaper than French sites. We found Irish people dominate the site and they show all the GAA games.

We went August 2022. Mixed feelings on it tbh - our first (and so far, only) campsite holiday. Seems to be past its glory days tbh. Pools etc all good, and a good range of activities but they can be very busy. It is bloody hilly however - I ended up getting leg cramps! With the car it'll be easier for you though - on foot the trek back from Lidl carrying a heavy load was exhausting in mid 30s heat (gotta go all the way round via reception - despite what maps may suggest, you can't go out on the western side). Expect long queues at any of the food service outlets there at busy times and then long waits to actually get it - even getting an ice cream requires you to queue twice - first to pay (along with everyone ordering food) and then to actually get the ice cream! Despite its huge size, we also found it difficult to actually get a table in the entertainment area in the evening.

Our biggest problem with the site however was, in contrast to the poster above, the clientele seemed to be 80+% Dutch - a quite unfriendly bunch it seemed, and our lads didn't really make any friends there. Only saw the odd Paddy around tbh. I suspect there's more Irish earlier in the summer. I was also somewhat surprised at the age group - most of the kids there seemed to be mid teens and later. Plenty of noise around the place to until 2am (there's also a disco bar which runs until 4am IIRC).

One more thing - I've been looking at prices for it this year and costs are way up on 2022 - it really is very expensive!
