VW Golf Parking Senors

I recently picked up a 2018 Golf import. It has a reversing camera but no parking sensors.

Any ideas where I could get front and rear parking sensors fitted and integrated to the infotainment unit?

I contacted local vw garage directly but they said they don't retrofit anything that wasn't originally included.

    All advice appreciated.

    Thanks

Well it would depend on what part of the country you were in but you might struggle.

You'd easily get some type of rear sensors fitted but you'd struggle to get them integrated I'd say.

I find that once you have a camera the sensors give too many false alarms and are ignored by the driver. They are also somewhat slow to react.

You could Google and ring a few places. One issue is the sensors are typically body colour so would need to be painted. For full integration the head unit would need programming and it would be relatively expensive.

You can get retrofit kits on the Chinese sites that integrate with the factory headunit.

Surely there should be loads of tutorials on how to program VAG head units, but if OP does not want to DIY this whole thing, then it would be pricey.

Just on the labour alone, there will be quite a few hours to drill holes on 2 bumbers, paint sensors, wire it up, strip interior to connect all those wires etc etc.

May end up being costing too much for what it is really.

In the end, Golf is a small car and having a camera alone may actually be enough for it.

I’ve driven a 2015 Golf with a reverse camera and no sensors and found it absolutely fine. My car had a tiny screen whereas your one has the newer large screen making it even better.

I would give it a few weeks before making any decisions on installing additional parking aids.

I've used both camera and sensors either together or separately on various cars.

Sensors plus well adjusted and properly used mirrors are the best combo imho.
