Hi, have a wallbox charger and solar tubes

    Getting 5kw 12 panels for 6.4k

Doesn't include hot water eddi thing as I don't have an electric coil in the tank, just one from central heating.

    Is that a big loss?

Also what's the device to add to wallbox so that it recognises generated electricity?

Wallbox needs the correct power meter (your installer should know about this) and it can do eco mode. Otherwise, if your solar has a decent integration w/ HA you can use home assistant to control the wallbox according to export (which is what I do cause my installer didn't care to understand about the power meter).

Hi, thanks for that....what does solar having decent integration with HA mean? Sorry, new to all this

There's no value in diverting excess solar PV into heating water currently, particularly of you have tubes.

You get more from FIT from exporting to grid than it costs to heat water by gas, by a factor of nearly three in some cases.

When you join us in the underbelly of solar monitoring through home assistant, you'll find out more. Basically if it integrates with home assistant (either natively or through community plug ins via HACS) you can get a lot of direct information to trigger automations for your other smart devices (like the wallbox which is actually fairly smart). First call is probably to try use the eco mode in the wallbox app, and if it does nothing (needs a minimum of 1.3kW export AFAIR) ring your installer and find out can they replace the power meter (replacing it is possible but some installers aren't interested in smaller works like that)

Thanks. Last Q! Anyone know someone to service solar tubes installation?

    Thanks
