Panel efficiency at STC

Can't find the answer to this one.

Looking at panel spec sheets and working back dimensions, some things aren't adding up.

I use a manufacturer's Wpeak, and work back to STC and reference standard of 1000W/msq.

I get efficiency results of around 30%.

But yet, the manufacturer has lower efficiency claims of around 20%?

I can post example later when on PC, but it just isn't adding up for me...

    Panels are roughly 1.7m x 1.1 = 1.87

    At 1000w/m2, for a 400w panel,

    400/1.87/1000 = 0.213, or 21.3%
