Unless you're on a stupid high dose and in the testing pool, you should be grand.😉

I saw this timeline posted online this morning.

A brief timeline of events since Ruth Chepngetich's marathon world record...

Oct. 13, 2024 - Ruth Chepngetich takes nearly two minutes off the marathon world record in 2:09:56 – becomes the first woman to break 2:11 and 2:10.

In the post-race press conference, LetsRun's Robert Johnson asked Chpengetich about the marathon world record falling by nearly two minutes in an era where Kenya is struggling with doping cases.

Here is how the exchange went:
Johnson: “Ruth, unfortunately in recent years there’s been a number of doping positives in Kenya. What would you say to someone who says when they see 2:09:56, ‘This is too good to be true. I have questions about it.’”

Chepngtich: “I don’t have any idea.”

Johnson: “Some people may think that the time is too fast and you must be doping. What would you say to them?”

Chepngetich: “You know people must talk but…people must talk so I don’t know.”

Oct. 16th, 2024 – Members of Kenyan parliament discuss the question and demand an apology from Johnson for the questioning. Athletics Kenya issues a statement defending Chepngetich after mounting public skepticism around her world record saying the criticisms "undermine not only her efforts but the integrity of the sport.”

Nov. 4th, 2024 – Named a finalist for World Athletics' Female Out of Stadium Athlete of the Year. (Loses to Sifan Hassan)

Dec. 11, 2024 – World Athletics ratifies Chepngetich's marathon world record.

Dec. 31, 2024 – Races a road 10K in Madrid and runs 31:32 for second place. Far from the fitness she showed in Chicago, where she ran 30:14 through the 10K mark.

Jan. 15, 2025 – Announced as a headliner vs. Sifan Hassan vs. Peres Jepchirchir for the 2025 London Marathon

Feb. 11, 2025 – Announces she will be racing the Lisbon Half.

March 9th, 2025 – Finishes second at the Lisbon Half in 1:06:20. Far from her 1:04:02 personal best and the 1:04:16 form she showed in Chicago.

March 14th, 2025 – Tests positive for Hydrochlorothiazide.

April 3rd, 2025 – The positive test is reported to the AIU.

April 16th, 2025 – Chepngetich was notified of the positive test and interviewed in person by the AIU in Kenya.

April 18th, 2025 – Withdraws from the London Marathon. Issues a statement saying: "I'm not in the right place mentally or physically to race my best in London and I am therefore withdrawing. I am very sad to miss the race and I hope to be back next year."

April 19th, 2025 – Chepngetich informs the AIU that she has opted for a voluntary provisional suspension while the AIU’s investigation was ongoing.

July 17th, 2025 – The AIU's investigation continued and they issued their Notice of Charge and a provisional suspension today. Chepngetich has the right to have the case heard before a Disciplinary Tribunal.

The really disappointing thing about this time line is, she will still keep the WR of 2.09.56.
