Hi I have a Axis HRV and I’m looking to get it serviced. I’m based in Donegal however I’m unsure what companies provide a servicing, if any. I have tried to research this via the usual routes however I’m not getting any success.TIA

If it was commissioned correctly originally then the only servicing required is change of filters. Very simple job.

Thanks. It was commissioned originally and I change the filters every 6 months and hoover them monthly. I have recently noticed a black “soot like” area on one of the vents in the roof so not sure if this is normal or not.

.... and not to forget cleaning of the heat exchanger every 3 to 5 years depending on the make / model / local climate etc and also the ducting network when needed.

Thanks any idea what the black patch on the roof where the air vent could be-is it simply the dust coming out through the vent. I’m assuming the 2 vents are for air in and air out.

The two vents either on the roof or in the soffits should be as far apart as possible (but not less than 2 m according to Vent Axia). This is to prevent any cross contamination between air in and air out.

Which vent is the black patch on? If on the exhaust side it would point to possible damp in the exhaust air mixing with dust/ solid contaminants that have somehow bypassed the system filters. Have the filters been installed correctly?

If on the supply side it could be dirt being sucked in to the system, but if you are in rural Donegal, this seems unlikely.

    Dave

I have a black patch on my supply side on the slates. I suspect it is from all the peat burning by my neighbours. The supply side filter is always black when I change it.
