Carzone and Donedeal Scam Alert

    Hello,

I am a long time lurker but I wanted to do some community awareness of sorts.

I recently sold a car on Donedeal, but I forgot to delete the advert. I was contacted by someone to say that a copy of my advert was up on Carzone. Sure enough, there is a scammer using the website www.carsforsaleireland.co.uk. They took the photos and details from my advert and put it on Carzone and their site. Below is a link to thier "showroom". My car is already sold but I am trying to contact as many people as I can, it is taking an age to search for the legitiate adverts for the scammed cars on my phone. I have only managed to contact 10 people so far in the past hour.

The scammer seems to simply take Donedeal ads and post them on Carzone as well as their site. A few I have seen have been copied from Carzone, so I would guess or hope the original seller has spotted their car already. I have been told that people have already reported them, but ads just pop up immediately after.

Maybe someone from Boards who is selling a car will find theirs here, at least that will help one more person. Hopefully people don't try and buy, but I'd have thought it would put a lot of people off and end up putting sellers under pressure. "If one ad is a scam, maybe the other more expensive one is too." kind of thing.

Showroom link can be found through www.carsforsaleireland.co.uk (I can't post links yet).

I doubt that this is the only case of this kind of scamming, but hopefully we can get it shut down properly. I don't know what information Carzone would need to stop them from creating new adverts. Even if they are using fake phone numbers, a contact email address must be common?

Their web domain registrar is called namecheap, and they have a ticket system to report fraud (I cant post links).. I have complained, maybe a few more people could? They seem to be using a heap of phone numbers.

Thanks everyone. This riled me up!

Likely to be featuring on Liveline any day now with someone who sent €10k to a Western Union Office for a car with a €25k book value.

It's a .co.uk domain, so the UK's National Cyber Security Centre might take it seriously if you report it. They've a "Report Scam Website" page (https://www.ncsc.gov.uk/section/about-this-website/report-scam-website) which, if nothing else, could be a good starting point.

or try to report to wix.com since they have built this scam-site via wix platform. It seems the scam is to get you to pay reservation fee with possible other further payment requests depending on how uneducated or naive the victim is.

UK company 15074854 - listed for strike off since the 12th December.

Sole Director is Adam Ali, who is also the director of Car Sales 1884 Limited (incorporated 16th Aug 23), and Car Saless LTD (to be listed for strike off on the 26th Dec). 2 other dissolved companies to his name.

Probably the same fella I keep talking to when I get the "your revolut account has been accessed" calls (press 1 when you get that call, and take the p1ss out of the 'human' on the phone).

I've used their contact form asking where I can see one of the cars, so we'll see if anyone responds.

    EDIT*

Same year of Birth as Adam Ali who was jailed for 8 months for speeding through Bradford in 2017, who didn't have a drivers license or insurance - https://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/news/15398243.vast-speeds-reached-during-seven-mile-chase-along-inner-city-bradford-streets/

They have alot of links all around set up, an alright looking website with proper support and a legit looking contract. With cheap price but not too cheap to raise suspicion.
