Tucson 152 Grinding when breaking

    Evening all,

I've a 152 Tucson. Had it serviced recently ,and two new tyres, and ever since I've an intermittent issue where when I brake and get down to 20/30kmph there's a grinding I can feel through the brake pedal. It was only every so often, but is becoming more common. It feels like the ABS but no ABS light comes on.

Generally only happens in 2nd and 3rd gear while braking, and as I said, only when I get down to 20/30kmph. It also only lasts a second or so, quick grind/vibration and then back to normal. Revs slightly increase during the grinding.

Presume it's an ABS issue and will bring it to the garage this week, just wondering if anyone could shed some light on it. Maybe a sensor is fecked since the tyre change...?

Sounds like a worn or broken brake pad!

I didn't think it would be since it's intermittent and only at low speed, but I'll try take a look at it tomorrow, thanks!

Very much sounds like a brake pad sitting weirdly in the caliper!

Thanks! I've a garage around the corner I'll bring it around Monday and hopefully get it sorted. Other than changing a tyre I wouldn't be too handy with cars, will leave it to the experts 😂

Hard to believe this issue was going on so long... Anyway, turned out to be the ABS ring which had split on the front driver side. Had two mechanics look at it who obviously didn't put much time into it.

Found the issue myself online and a video with identical scenario, low speed grinding under breaking, no ABS light.

    Sorted now anyway.
