Seeking native aquatic plants for 2 small (patio + container) ponds

Just put in a pond. Plastic basin put into the earth. Surrounded the corners with stones and moss. What plants, be they marginal or in the water, would be appropriate? Same q goes for a pond I plan to put in tomorrow in a large ceramic basin/pot. I think this second pond will need the shelfs and more plants. Any help appreciated.

    I don't and won't have a pump/filter/fish

It really depends on the size but good mix of deep water (water lilies), shallow (marginal) plants and oxygenators is always best. Check out your local garden center although it us bit out of season now for pond plants

yes it seems there is not much point in planting now, may as well wait until february or march

many garden centres wouldn't carry pond plants - would be worth going to a specialist if you have one nearby, e.g. pond hobby in north county dublin.

Have a look at Future Forests in the spring, I got nice plants there, ( but not all their stock are native so know what it is you’re looking for) Just google them beforehand to check final size as some may be too large for a container.

I bought miniature water lilies to suit a small pond not sure where from but I’d recommend them rather than normal lilies. Water forget me nots, marsh marigolds and ragged robins are also good choices for small spaces.

Don’t forget the oxgenators, hornwort is easy to manage in a small space.
