500mb Vodafone Gigahome No Way To Receive Calls To New House Number

My parents just got this.

Superb speeds since they had a 6mb copper line beforehand. Very happy with that.

The landline is gone. My father has about 20 emails from Vodafone. 1 with a new landline number 07493XXXXX.

Grand. Theyve been sent a 4g dongle in the post. No idea why. Theres no instructions on how to use the new house number for calls. Any ideas before I phone 1907 sounding completely clueless?

Plug the phone into the router, there's a dedicated port for it from what I remember

1 is the phone plugged into the back of the router ?

2 the dongle is prob for always connected

Thanks this has worked. House phone now connected. The only other thing now is what are the call charges for ringing out from this number.

My parents online My vodafone is a complete mess. 2 dead account numbers that show nothing except a final bill for the old broadband service.

Did they have a working landline number up to the switch to fibre? If so Vodafone should be porting that number over to the fibre VOIP line, if they are saying they wont or cant complain and threaten to escalate to ComReg.

Yes they had their own house phone number before the install that everyone knows for the last 30 years. Thanks I will do that.

Absolutely nothing was explained to my parents. Now that I know how the new landline works its a joke. Theyve just drilled a hole in the handiest corner of the house near the road and put the fibre box + router there. Nowhere near where my parents spend 99% of their time and need the house phone. Going through the emails VF have signed them up to all sorts of extra shite too. Theres a repeater half way from the router to where it used to be. Im sure there'll be a charge for that. Apart from the great speeds the rest is very disappointing.

It sounds like your parents signed up to either of the following add-ons

GigaHome - €10 per month

or

AlwaysConnected and SuperWiFI €5 each per month

The standard call package just seems to be unlimited calls to Irish landlines - I think for mobiles you need another addon but its not listed on the website - only in their Rates pdf - https://n.vodafone.ie/content/dam/gowingmyself/pdfs/terms-2022/rates/vodafone-home-pricing-sheet-sept-2023.pdf

Well what I agreed to on the phone was 55 euro per month for 12 months. Maybe the addons you describe are included. I guess I'll see what the story is when the first bill comes in.

Hopefully the new MyVodafone account number online (which is currently showing nothing except the new landline number and a handset icon at the top) will then show whats been signed up to and I'll take it from there.
