Channel 799 Details

I have a few satellite set top boxes for receiving UK channels.

Trying to test if the boxes are hd capable and getting channel unavailable message.

Anyone have the tune in details of 799 so I can tune in manually?

Now that is a 6 million dollar question? what is channel 799?

Or say name of boxes ie make and model and I can tell if they are HD capable.

Channel 799 is only for Freesat branded boxes or TVs, to see if you have a HD device to continue watching BBC services after 8h January on Satellite

If you have different Free-to-air boxes, please post the Brand/Model numbers and posters here will be able to tell you if it's a HD box or not

Is there a list to lookup if your model is compatible or not? Many people would have bought from the likes of LIDL.

I have silvercrest sl 65 and a Thompson one from maybe circa 2010. I'm guessing they are not HD.

Looks like HD boxes are marked with HD somewhere on the box itself.

The easiest way to find out is... If there is a HDMI output at the back of each box. If there's only a Scart connection it's only a SD box

Looking at Images online, the Silvercrest SL 65 is only a SD box. No HDMI output at the rear of it

Need the Model Number of your Thompson box

Really hard to find much info online about this other than the Channel 799 message. I appreciate it!

Just in case the TV is as old as the boxes, it might not be capable of displaying HD either.
