Generally if local mods are happy for such a discussion then I would not have an issue with it. If it became inundated with posters banned from the CA thread(s) then I might take a different view. Equally local mods may also take a different position in those circumstances

In general Boards have a lot of relatively small communities who are happy discussing certain issues amongst themselves possibly without the sort of issues we may see in CA

The Ukraine/Russia conflict in particular is quite relevant to the farming community, with lots of direct impacts. Israel/Hamas does not seem to have such a link. However if the thread is not causing significant issues then I would not see a pressing reason to close it or merge it with the relevant CA thread(s)

I just had a look at the thread there, read a couple of the first pages and a few of the last pages. I fully agree with you and I don't know why it's not knocked on the head tbh. @System you merged it so have you an opinion?

There's no actual user called System, it just appears as the thread starter on threads which were split out from other threads.
