Reckonable residence in Ireland for citizendship

    Hi,

I'm not sure if anyone here wil be able to answer this, but here goes anyway.

I have been in Ireland for over 5 years continuously, which would, in theory, qualify me for reckonable residence for citizenship. However, on the calculator, it asks for times you have held stamps in your passport. When I arrived, the immigration officer at the airport gave me a 90-day tourist visa despite my telling him my kids are EU citizens and my wife was already here and she is also an EU citizen and I was joining her with the kids. That was on Oct 10, 2018. Later, I sought employment and they offered to request my visa for me, which I mistakenly accepted, but they filed for a Stamp 1 instead of a Stamp 4 (EU/FAM), which was the correct one. The Stamp 1 (sponsored employment) was, of course, denied and then I went myself to the immigration officer on Mar 20, 2019, and filed for a Stamp 4 EU/Fam visa. I got a stamp on that date to remain until Nov 3, 2019 - when I started working - and then with the full process filed, on Jul 31, 2019, I got the full Stamp 4 visa until Jul 7, 2024.

My question is: Does my reckonable residence count from Oct 10, 2018 when I entered the country or only from when the Stamp 4 was granted on Mar 20, 2019? Does the time the company applied for the Stamp 1 count?

Just as a side note, I have a rental agreement for a house starting on Oct 10, 2018. I'm not sure that helps in any way. Also, I have written 3 emails to the citizenship department (citizenshipinfo@justice.ie) asking this question, with no replies so far, that is why I am asking here if anyone can advise me.

    Thank you for any clarification.

Your reckonable residence is based on your immigration permission, so it began when you first got your Stamp 4 permission. Since you were never actually issued a work permit, you were never under a Stamp 1 permission. The temporary permission you received at your port of entry is not reckonable for the purpose of naturalisation, nor was the time between the expiration of that permission and your first Stamp 4 during when you had no valid permission to be in Ireland at all.
