Recommend alternative to Triton T80

I had an old electric shower replaced 2 months ago as it was failing to heat the water sufficiently. As it was mains fed, the installer replaced it with a Triton T80.

It's just broken for the third time. It happens after a shower rather than during it, it runs fine but when it's switched off it makes a whirring noise for 10 seconds or so and then runs cold when we attempt to use it next.

We've had 2 different Triton engineers out, the first said the pressure is too high and we should get a pressure reducing valve when we next have a plumber round. He also said the button shouldn't be sticking like ours does, it can take a few presses to get it to stick in.

The second said the pressure is too low and it will keep failing. He was right that it did break again but wouldn't the low pressure light come on if low pressure was an issue? It's never come on. I think both replaced the TCO. We got 4.5 weeks from installation to the first repair, that lasted 3 weeks and the second repair lasted 2.

Any ideas what our options are now if mains electric isn't an option? Is switching to tank fed electric a big job?

    Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

Definitely sounds like a water pressure problem rather than a faulty shower. For what it's worth a mains fed shower shouldn't be connected to the mains water supply in Ireland. Against building regulations, Irish water regulations and local bylaws. Most of Dublin has horrible water pressure and mains fed showers don't preform well because of this

You will most likely have the same issue with different mains fed showers. Best option is change to tank fed shower like a Triton t90sr.

Usually when the button on the shower sticks it's because of a DIY tiling job leaving on uneven wall. Wall should be totally flat
