20k to buy a car but not a notion of what to buy

I'm currently driving a 2011 Skoda Octavia with 352k on the clock. Nct is well past due but i dont want to put any money into it so looking to change.

My budget is a max of 20k. It will be a second car in the house most driving will be below 3km a day but twice a week i have to drive 118km (236 per week).

I have no interest in cars really, i would be as happy in a punto as an A6.

All I'd be looking for is

    Cruise control

    Rear camera/parking sensors

Aircon would be nice but not essential

An internal phone charger that doesn't need a key would also be nice but not essential.

I've been looking at a Kia Ceed, Seat Leon or an i30 but, as I have had no interest in cars, i don't know if they're any good or if there are better alternatives. Am i correct in saying the kia has a 7 year warranty?

Any suggestions or pointers would be appreciated, i think I'd like to buy from a dealer rather than private as a warranty would be a comfort.

Have you thought about an EV?

Seems you're in the market for a hatchback, I've listed some saloons that I'd consider buying myself, with hatchback alternative.

Ford mondeo 2.0 in Titanium spec are a nice car, or Focus 1.5 diesel

Renault megane 1.5dci, wouldn't pick any other Renault tbh

    Volvo S60 2.0 R-design Or Volvo V40

    Toyota Avensis or Corolla

    VW Passat or Golf

    Honda Civic or Accord

My personal pick would be the Volvo S60 R-design trim with the 180bhp D4 spec. Or go D3 if you can get inscription which is their top spec.

For every generic ‘I need a car but not fussed about what I get’ threads, I’ll leave my usual answer here:

    Toyota Prius.

You’ll get a very nice one for your budget which would have most of the specs you want.

If you don’t like the look of the Prius, you could get an Auris/Corolla Sports Touring Hybrid.

Leon Fr automatic would be nice but you might need another 4-6k for the later model .

Skoda currently doing PCP 0% finance

Consider a Fabia - 25k for mid spec but within budget depending on what you get for your own

Also Dacia sandero - best value supermini - can get with a 5 year warranty for about 20k - good residuals

Octavia Soleil, run out model of Mk3. High spec and could be had for that money.

Can I ask why you're willing to spend 20k but not spend any money on a known quantity in your existing car especially when you don't particularly care about cars?

No dog in the race, just curious if it's a "I want a new thing" thing or a there's a known big bill calling on it and you don't fancy spending that.

Its the usual, spend €20,000 on a new car to avoid paying €200 on car maintenance.

Makes no sense in most scenarios.

because the existing car is a known quality i know that it is pouring money down the drain. It's an absolute wreck that needs a lot of work.

Cheers for the input guys, was about to pull the trigger an a tidy looking i30 but opted to go for a Tucson instead (absolutely not what i started out looking for)

Found a mid-hugh trim 2019 model for bang on the 20k so will be getting that. Has 120km on it but it is genuine motorway miles so not to bad and has a full hyundai service history with 9 month warranty left. Will just have to get used to driving a slightly bigger car
